The Soul Behind the Art
Hello, I am Lady Katie
I’m a multi-talented artist and photographer based near Seattle. Like many, my story starts with, “I’ve been creating art since I was a child,” and I’m no exception. Creating art is like breathing for me—it has always been a constant and essential part of my life, guiding me on a journey that’s now spanned over 20 years. I knew by the age of 15 that I wanted to devote my life to art, but not just one kind. I’ve always craved the experience of exploring new techniques, embracing different styles, and challenging myself to create something fresh. As Demetri Martin said, "Earth without art is just eh!"
I’ve been residing in Washington state since the summer of 2021 with my betrothed, my bonus daughter, and our two fur babies: Thor, our dramatic 14-year-old hound, and Schrödinger, the theoretical cat of ambiguous status. Originally from the barren deserts of Arizona, I blossomed as an introverted individual who finds joy in creating with Thor by my side, a cup of chai tea, and sweet melodies in the background, especially when rain gently taps on the windows. My greatest joy comes from creating what doesn’t exist in reality—bringing to life the visions that dwell solely in my mind.
Mission
I find beauty in everything. Darkness, so often misunderstood, holds peace for those who are willing to look. Imperfections don’t mar an image—they reveal hidden character. My search for what ignites my soul has taken me through many mediums, styles, and subjects. Art offers solace to the soul, transporting me to a faraway place only I can understand. In the canvas of my mind, I see an image that I bring into reality. With pen or brush in hand, I outline a figure that breathes life into the world. To wield the power to create something that didn’t exist before fills me with wonder.
The howling of trees, the glistening of moonlight, the stillness of a sunset over calm waters, the earth’s mossy green, and the heavens’ fury during a storm—these are the forces that inspire my work. From sketches and paintings to poems and photographs, I strive to capture this essence in everything I create.
